    Challenge Events:

    Over the course of 2 days, participants in The Protrek Guilin Weekend Challenge will have to complete the following events:

    • Mountain trail running
    • Mountain biking
    • Paddling native boats and swimming
    • Orienteering
    • Negotiation of an underground cave
    • Rappelling off a rock cliff through a natural limestone arch and other rope challenges

    Race Format:

    Racers will compete in teams of two in the following categories: 1) all male; 2) all female; 3) mixed; and 4) combined age over 100. Winners will be judged based on cumulative time over the two days event. Entry will be limited to 100 teams consisting of two members each. Entry will be on a first come first served basis. Registration forms and payment will be accepted between the period January 1 - March 1, 2002, inclusive.


    Race Safety (Organizer's Responsibility):

    • Boats, marshals/water safety for all appropriate sections of the course
    • Fixed ropes for difficult sections (rope rigging supervised by international qualified professionals)
    • Participants required to wear helmets, safety harnesses, and flotation devices for certain sections
    • Local medical personnel at various checkpoints

    Race Safety (Participant's Responsibility):

    • Every competitor is responsible for his/her involvement in the race and is the sole judge of whether he/she should begin or continue competing in the race. However, the Race Organizer reserves the right to prohibit a competitor from starting or continuing the race.

    • Participants who are unclear about their ability to participate in this race are advised to consult their family doctors prior to participation.

    • Participants must ensure that they are well-rested prior to the race and well-hydrated during the race.

    • If a participant feels unwell during the race, they must stop and ask for medical attention from the support crews along the race route.

    • All participants are strongly encouraged to have their own primary medical insurance.
