Bonaqua Youth Challenge Pre-Race Training Day
Schedule
8:15 Assemble at Tai Wo KCR Station
8:30 Shuttle bus leaving from Tai Wo KCR Station
9:00 Arrival at Shuen Wan . Welcome Introduction, Participant Packs & Lunch Distribution
9:30 Divide into two groups according to age:
Skill Training (13-15 years old) Kayaking, equipment, strokes, safety, wet exit. Sea swimming
Skill Training (16-18 years old) Orienteering, Hand Line Safety, Trail Running and Rock Scrambling
12:30 Meet for Lunch at Ma Shi Chau (First Aid/Nutrition Training)
1:30 Groups switch:
Skill Training (16-18 years old) Kayaking, equipment, strokes, safety, wet exit, Sea Swimming
Skill Training (13-15 years old) Orienteering, Hand Line Safety, Trail Running and Rock Scrambling
4:30 Return to Starting point at Shuen Wan

5:00 Dismissal
(Public Transportation is available from Ting Kok Rd. to Tai Wo and Tai Po KCR Stations)
What to wear/pack:
Kayaking section
**If you are kayaking first, you need to pack all your things for the other section (Orienteering/Handlines/Run and Scramble) into your backpack (see below) and carry it to the lunch point. (Line your backpack with a garbage bag to keep everything dry) and wear the following:
quick dry nylon shorts or pants
T-shirt
Polar Fleece Jacket and Rain Jacket
sturdy shoes or sport sandals that can get wet
a towel, dry underwear, socks (in your pack)
Orienteering/Handlines/Run and Scramble
**If you are in this section first, you will have to carry all of your clothing for kayaking in your backpack (see above) to the lunch point. (Line your backpack with a garbage bag to keep everything dry) and wear the following:
2nd set of quick dry nylon shorts or pants
2nd T-shirt
Sturdy, rubber sole running shoes
Additional Items
- Bike, skateboard or climbing helmet (you are required to wear your helmet at all times)
- Water bottle or Hydration Pack (capacity of at least one litre) Bonaqua will provide water
- Compass (1-2 per team)
- Lunch (You will be given a bag lunch in the morning which you will need to carry with you to the lunch point.) Hot drinks and water refills will be served at the lunch point.
- Backpack (to hold all the above)
